At Keymar Winery, we believe good wine isn’t a mystery reserved for a select few—it’s something meant to be unlocked, enjoyed, and shared.
Crafted by Michael Moran and Lillian Nash in 2025, Keymar Winery has set out to create a family-friendly experience near Frederick and Carroll Counties, where every bottle reflects our roots, our hands, and our community.
Our journey began with a simple conviction: that great wine doesn’t just come from soil and barrels—it comes from the people who gather around it. That’s why our approach is guided by honesty, craftsmanship, and joy. Yes, terroir and technique matter, but the real magic? It’s in the laughter across the table, the warmth of a shared meal, the stories that linger long after the last sip.
Keymar Winery is proud to be a minority and woman-owned business in Keymar, Maryland, adding fresh perspectives to a centuries-old tradition. Our family-run winery brings patience and artistry to each bottle, while tending to the details that make every visit feel like home.

Mike Moran
Every great wine begins long before it’s poured into a glass. At Keymar Winery, our winemaker, Michael “Mike” Moran, is the steady hand and thoughtful heart guiding each step of the journey—from the first buds on the vine to the moment a cork is pulled.
Mike, a U.S. Army veteran who served for 15 years, always enjoyed wine but didn’t realize winemaking was in his future until 2012, when he attended a Stomp & Chomp event in Baltimore. It was an annual, lively, eclectic gathering of hobbyist winemakers, yet one person stood out: Moe Fraunfelder.
For four years, Mike returned to Stomp & Chomp, heading straight for Moe’s table to taste and revel in his unforgettable Zinfandel. Every year, Moe offered to teach him how to make wine, and every year Mike politely declined.
That fifth year, Moe wasn’t present at Stomp & Chomp and Mike quickly learned that Moe was ill. When Mike visited him during recovery, he made a promise: if Moe pulled through, he would finally learn the craft of winemaking from him.
Those years making wine alongside Moe became Mike’s training ground and the foundation for Keymar Winery. More than just techniques, Moe passed down a philosophy: the key to good wine isn’t forced but revealed.
Today, that philosophy lives in every bottle we make. Our wines are handcrafted in small batches right here in Frederick County, Maryland—born of attentive care to the vines, honest technique, and a passion for sharing the result. We believe the key is in the soil, the seasons, and the stories you tell across the table.
When you raise a glass at Keymar Winery, you’re not only tasting Maryland wine—you’re tasting the friendship, lessons, and legacy of Mike & Moe. And perhaps the greatest key Moe ever shared wasn’t about winemaking at all, it was about savoring the good company you keep and celebrating the present.
